David Stephen Calonne, born in Los Angeles, received his B.A. from UCLA and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He has taught at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Michigan and presently teaches at Eastern Michigan University. He has lectured at the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia niversity, the University of California at Berkeley, the European University Institute in Florence, the University of London, Oxford, and Harvard. He is the author of William Saroyan: My Real Work Is Being and The Colossus of Armenia: G.I. Gurdjieff.
